FOREST Green striker Phil Marsh is set to sign for promotion chasing  Blue Square North outfit Guiseley Town after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent this afternoon, Thursday.

Marsh, 26, joined Forest Green in May from Stalybridge Celtic in the Blue Square North Premier on a two-year deal but has been unable to get a foothold in Rovers matchday squad.

The former Manchester United man made his debut in Rovers’ 2-1 win at AFC Telford and was in the starting side for his fourth and fifth appearances against Kidderminster and Hyde.

After finding his first team opportunities limited, Marsh went out on a three-month loan to Hereford United at the start of October and scored on debut in the Bulls’ 2-1 loss to Stockport before going on to feature seven times in total.

Rovers manager David Hockaday said: “Phil’s a top lad and wants to be playing. Unfortunately it hasn’t quite happened for him at Forest Green.

“But I know everyone at The New Lawn wishes him all the best in his future football career.”
