SLIMBRIDGE ended a run of five games without victory, in a tough contest on a very heavy pitch at Kidlington.

The Swans took the lead on 19 minutes when Dan Holloway’s quick turn saw him brought down in the Kidlington box. Holloway picked himself up to convert the spot kick.

As the game swung from end to end, Jamie Martin forced a good save from Matt Dixon, before his follow-up shot was cleared off the Kidlington line.

Kidlington began to take control of the game, and began to create more chances. Jimmy Deabill’s overhead kick which hit the Slimbridge crossbar, saw Lee Martin make a good save from Tom Boxer’s follow-up header, and then deal with another good effort from Boxer.

An equaliser seemed inevitable, and it came on 39 minutes, when a corner fell to Deabill in the Slimbridge box, and he buried it past Martin.

The second period saw an improved performance from the Swans, and Dominique Njoya’s cross saw Holloway shoot off target.

On 65 minutes, Alex Higgs came on to replace Jamie Martin, and three minutes later he was crucial in what turned out to be the winning goal. His run down the right flank saw him deliver a superb cross to the incoming Roberts, and the Slimbridge captain slammed the ball past Dixon.

Jack Johnson brought a great save from Martin with a 20-yard effort, while Dan Holloway rattled the post with a good effort after neat interplay with Njoya.

After seven minutes of stoppage time which saw the Slimbridge goal under siege, a shot beat Martin but was ruled out as the whistle had already been blown, prompting angry scenes from the home players and officials.
