SLIMBRIDGE suffered defeat at third-placed Wantage on Tuesday night.
Jamie Martin went close early on for the Swans but he was unable to beat the keeper with a lob.
Slimbridge were given a warning when Richie Claydon hit the post for the hosts from 18 yards, but at the other end Dean Barnard should have scored when he had two shots well saved.
Tom Speers headed just wide from Martin’s free kick, but on the half-hour mark he lost the ball in midfield, allowing Claydon to put Wantage ahead.
Dan Holloway twice went close to an equaliser in the second half as Slimbridge pushed hard, but Wantage held on.
Slimbridge visit sixth-placed Wokingham and Emmbrook on Saturday and struggling Highworth Town next Tuesday.
