EIGHT Fromeside gymnasts were crowned county champions at the Gloucestershire Novice Floor and Vault Championships held in the Forest of Dean.

In the Age 7 and under category, Nia Topologlu had a clean sweep, coming first floor and vault to win gold overall. Jasmine Shafi and Maisie Meecham were joint second floor, third on vault for silver overall. Isabelle Walsh was fourth overall with Millie Clarke sixth overall.

In the Age 8 group, Phoebe Dyer achieved first floor, second vault and gold overall.

Holly Watts-Lynch gained second on floor and vault for silver overall in the Age 9 group, and training buddy Megan Street was third on floor and fourth overall.

In the Age 10 group, Millie Punton finished first on floor, third on vault and received gold overall.

In the Level 2 competition Age 8 group, Emily Jones achieved first floor, second vault and gold overall. Emily Reakes was second floor and won silver overall. Keziah Welsh was second on vault and fourth overall. Mollie Melville was third on floor and fifth overall. Remi Bragg, Amber Toffi and Grace Burney finished ninth, 11th and 13th respectively.

In the level three competition Age 9 and under group, Mia Cipolla achieved first floor, third vault and gold overall with Amber Thrush fifth overall.

Holly Stone had a clean sweep in the Age 10/11 group, coming first on floor and vault to win gold overall.

In the Age 12 / 13 group, Lucy Durham produced another clean sweep, finishing first floor, first on vault and taking gold overall, and Amy Skinner finished second floor and won silver overall.

Josie Wheeler achieved first floor, second vault and the club’s eighth gold overall of the championships in the Age 14-plus group.

  • Twenty-one Fromeside girls competed in the annual Gloucestershire County Levels Floor and Vault Championships held in Winterbourne, with eight gymnasts crowned county champions.

The competition started with the level five gymnasts. In the younger senior group, Alisha Walters finished third on vault and second on floor for bronze overall, and Ella Waring was third on floor and seventh overall. Darcey Reynolds gained third floor and bronze overall in the older senior group.

In the young ladies group, Megan Skinner had a clean sweep, coming first on floor and vault for gold overall. Rosa Bellamy achieved third vault, second floor and silver overall and Katie Robbins was second on vault and took bronze overall.

Jessica Summerell competed on floor using one arm only as she is recovering from a broken hand and finished first on this apparatus in the ladies section.

In the level four in-age group Ruby Curthoys had a clean sweep to gain the gold overall.

In the junior group Megan Matthews achieved first vault, second floor and gold overall. Ella Stowell was second vault, first floor and silver overall. Brogan Sheppard was second on floor and won bronze overall and Leah Garland was third vault and fourth overall.

In the senior section, Saoirse Maccana produced another clean sweep to take the gold overall.

In the ladies section, Sarah Godden finished first on vault, third on floor for gold overall.

In-age level three champion Ashonte Bird had a clean sweep to take gold overall.

In the out-of-age group, Lauren Elliott achieved third vault, first floor and gold overall. Laoishe Maccana was second on floor and took joint silver overall with Sophie Bryant second on vault, third on floor and fourth overall.

In the MOD FIG open group, Georgina Bisp achieved first vault, second floor and gold overall. Lydia Hayden gained second vault, first floor and silver overall, and Jaime Wall was third on vault and floor for bronze overall.
