WEPL Premier Two Thornbury (198) lost to Glastonbury (201-3) by seven wickets
THORNBURY dropped out of the promotion places after suffering their second successive defeat at home to Glastonbury.
They got off to a disastrous start by losing their first five wickets with just 45 runs on the board before captain Richard Trotman and Alex Reid helped them recover with a sixth wicket stand of 145.
Trotman hit four sixes in his 76, while Reid scored a run-a-ball 73, but Thornbury lost their last five wickets for a meagre eight runs as Ali Easton finished with 5-39 for Goatacre.
Although Tom Bradley (2-25) removed Tom Brock (8) and Charlie Vickery (5) early on to reduce the visitors to 27-2, opener Harry Ellison (80*) and Jai Russell put on 131.
After Danny Slade (1-24) bowled Russell for 53 Easton finished the chase quickly with a quick-fire 33 not out. Thornbury are now ten points behind second-placed Taunton Deane and a further 21 adrift of league leaders Weston with three games left.
- Winterbourne moved to within one point off the top of the Bristol and North Somerset table after a 153-run win over Bristol West Indian and Phoenix.
Chris Kislingbury top-scored with 73 and Matt Crane hit an unbeaten 53 in their 260-6 before Marcus Purnell took 5-33 as the visitors were bowled out for 107.
Winterbourne remain third, behind joint leaders Chew Magna and Lansdown.
