Yate Town drawn at home to Gloucester City or Havant and Waterlooville in FA Cup third qualifying round
YATE Town have been handed a mouth-watering home tie against Conference opposition in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.
They will face either Gloucester City or Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday, October 12 with the sides set to play a replay on Tuesday night following a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Whaddon Road, where Yate played against Cheltenham Town in the first round last year.
If Skrill North side Gloucester win there could be a return to Lodge Road for Matt Groves, a hero in the Bluebells’ FA Cup run to the first round last year who left in the summer along with Scott Wilson, who was the club’s top scorer last season having been on a dual registration with the Tigers.
Havant are currently 16th in Skrill South and famously led twice against Liverpool in a 5-2 defeat at Anfield after reaching the FA Cup third round in the 2007-08 season.
Yate have already made £9,425 in prize money after wins over Cowes Sports and Southern League Premier Division clubs Chippenham Town and Bideford in the competition this year and £7,500 will be up for grabs in the next round.
