THORNBURY Golf Centre has welcomed 50 teams of lady golfers from across the region for the annual County Autumn Bowmaker.
Playing in teams of three, competitors took to the public pay-and-play centre’s scenic 18-hole Marlwood Course, which boasts panoramic views across the Severn Estuary to Wales and the distant Cotswold hills.
The triumphant team at Thornbury Golf Centre – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator – was made up of Jane Barrett, Mel Lee and Jackie Palmer whose final score, 79, was enough, by one shot, to overcome the second placed team, consisting of Caroline Shepard, Liz Wheatly and Susan Edwards.
With two teams scoring 77 it took countback to decide third place, which was awarded to Debbie Pringle, Julie Powlett and Kay Clark.
Richard Dakin, Thornbury Golf Centre General Manager, said: “Our facilities are used regularly to host county-wide competitions, such as the County Autumn Bowmaker, and we enjoy welcoming golfers of all ages and ability.
“More than 20 clubs were represented across the 50 teams playing in this competition and we look forward to welcoming all or visitors back soon.”
