Calor Southern League Division One South & West: Yate Town 1 Godalming Town 3

A MISERABLE week for Yate Town was completed with a home league defeat against Godalming.
The absences of Tom Seery, Ross Staley and James Harmer certainly showed as the Bluebells produced a poor performance in their first league game for a month, coming just three days after their 7-0 defeat to Gloucester City in the FA Cup.
The visitors went in front in the 23rd minute after Jake Cox brought down Godalming winger Mark Watkins inside the box, and a penalty was awarded. Sam De St Croix’s spot kick was converted into the right hand corner of the net.
Yate responded four minutes later when Lewis Haldane equalised in tremendous style, coolly striking the ball into the bottom corner to give goalkeeper Zaki Oualah no chance.
The hosts then started to apply heavy pressure, Mike Bryant firing just over from the edge of the box.
Jordan Rogers then had an opportunity to put Yate in front but his curling effort brushed the post and the sides went in level at half-time.
Yate started the second-half very brightly. Cox turned his man and his strike, which was heading into the bottom corner, was smartly tipped round the post by Oualah.
The visitors then took the lead out of nowhere in the 69th minute when substitute Jack Mazzone slid the ball into the back of the net.
The third goal for the visitors came on the 90 minute mark when Yate were caught napping at the back and Mazzone finished well into the bottom corner at the second attempt.
Yate Town: Horsell, Cox, Chandler, Harrison, Felix, Lenihan (Lane 62) Abraham, Bryant (c), Rodgers (Jackson 45) Haldane, Meaker (Hulbert 20). Sub not used: Tippins.
Yate visit Paulton Rovers in the Red Insure Cup first round on Tuesday night.
