Iain Dowie backs Gary Seward for Forest Green job
FORMER Northern Ireland international striker and QPR boss Iain Dowie believes Gary Seward is a contender for the Forest Green job.
Seward is keen to take the job at the New Lawn as he prepares to take charge on an interim basis ahead of Rovers’ FA Cup fourth round qualifier against Bishop's Stortford.
Dowie, 48, is a long-term friend of Seward, having used the 52-year-old as his European scout at Coventry City and Crystal Palace.
The Sky Sports pundit said: “Myself and my brother (Bob Dowie) know Gary very well. Gary isn’t a ‘yes man’ and is tactically very astute.
"He knows the non-league game inside out, which is important at that level - and he knows how to pick a player.
“For me, I wish him well and hope he gets the job.”
