Thornbury Town 0 Gala Wilton 4

THORNBURY suffered their second successive four-goal defeat to a well-drilled Gala Wilton side.

However it was Thornbury who started the brighter and almost took the lead in the seventh minute when Danny Thompson latched onto a through ball, outpaced his marker and let fly from 25 yards but the shot struck the post.

The visitors responded and took the lead a couple of minutes later when a cross from the right found the unmarked Craig Harris at the far post and he headed home.

Thornbury gradually got back into the game, pushing forward in search of an equaliser and ten minutes before the break Dan Thompson's cross from the right was met by Pete Fowler, but his header went too high.

The second half saw the visitors step up a gear and on the hour mark Harris scored his second when Thorns failed to cut out a cross from the right and he had the simple task of tucking the ball home from inside the six-yard box.

Five minutes later the game was put beyond Thorns' reach when Wilkinson netted and Harris completed his hat-trick with ten minutes remaining when a cross from the left was nodded back to the striker lurking on the edge of the box and he fired home.

Thornbury had the opportunity to grab a late consolation after Steve Thompson was brought down in the penalty area but Toby Bennett steered his spot kick wide of the post.

After two heavy defeats Thornbury will be looking for a much-improved performance when they entertain Bishops Cleeve Reserves on Saturday, 2pm.
