Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two

Chalford 2 Wotton 2

WOTTON came from behind twice to draw a six-pointer at Chalford.

Nick Bird and Ben Hemmings efforts needed great work from the home keeper to keep Chalford in the game.

Wotton's dominance continued and neat work from Ryan Collings and Ben Chapple on the wings created a string of chances that went begging.

The visitors had to defend at times and felt hard done by to go 1-0 down.

Wotton didn't let this setback dent their confidence and introduced young Connor Frost.

He instantly added an edge to the attack and it paid off when he linked up with Collings, who beat the offside trap before lifting the ball past the keeper and into the roof of the net.

The second half started a lot more evenly and Wotton had to defend a lot more than they did in the first half.

Wotton failed to clear their lines properly and Chalford capitalised to make it 2-1.

The visitors continued to build from the back and Gazza Pedley, Simon Graham and man of the match Bird all contributed to the pressure.

This paid dividends when midfield duo Beric Wetton and Hemmings piled forward and Bird moved the ball out wide. Chapple crossed into the many Wotton bodies in the box yet and a Chalford defender handled the ball to concede a penalty.

Hemmings stepped up and fired low into the corner to maintain his 100 per cent record from the spot.

Wotton could have won the game minutes later when Wetton took the ball past the static back four and placed the ball into the corner only for the keeper to pull off a fantastic save and earn his team a point.

Rovers' youth and energy once again looked dangerous and will surely pay dividends in the long run.
