GRFU Reserve League South Three

Avonmouth Old Boys 17 Wotton 75

LEAGUE leaders Wotton produced another try-feast at Avonmouth.

Wotton came out strong early and they were rewarded when Russian No 8 Gary Alexanderov touched down following a powerful rolling maul.

The lead was increased almost immediately after a bulldozing charge from Manu DeSouza left the opposition's defence in a trail of destruction to score under the posts.

Wotton dominated every aspect of play and it was only a matter of time before they extended their lead.

Boris Bennett, Tom Gibbs, and Ricky Allison all added tries, with Cristiano Stokes firing over the extras.

The moment of the first half was a fantastic team try, with the ball being moved effortlessly through a number of hands resulting in Matty Vaughan diving over in the corner to score his first-ever try, much to the delight of all his team-mates. Stokes nonchalantly stroked over the tough touchline conversion.

In the second half Wotton started where they left off in the first with Joe Horton scoring after good work from brother Tom and Sam Chappell.

Dan Durber added another score after a mazy run. Stokes converted both tries.

Wotton then became complacent and conceded three tries, one of which was penalty, resulting in Durber being sin-binned.

Lee Barton rounded the troops under the posts and after some strong words Wotton came back out fired up.

The next try was a special moment with Olli Boyle firing a pass out wide to release Joe Tomlin, who finished well for his first try in his first ever season of rugby. Joe Horton and Allison added further tries to wrap up proceedings, Stokes taking his individual tally to 20 points with his tenth consecutive conversion.
