THE local football and rugby schedule for today looks set to be virtually washed out due to torrential downpours across the country.
Forest Green’s Skrill Premier clash against Salisbury City at the New Lawn and Yate Town’s Southern League Division One South and West game at Wimborne Town have been postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
In the Western League Premier Division, Hallen and Slimbridge’s games against Gillingham Town and Buckland Athletic respectively have also been called off.
However, Winterbourne United’s game against Bristol Manor Farm is set to go ahead on the new all-weather pitch at Oaklands Park in Almondsbury.
Almondsbury UWE’s First Division clash at home to Bradford Town and Tytherington Rocks’ Hellenic League Division One West fixture at Malmesbury Victoria have also fallen victim of the wet weather.
Most, if not all, other fixtures in the lower leagues in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire are expected to be postponed after heavy overnight rain.
In rugby, the Western Counties North derby between North Bristol and Avon has been called off.
