TWO Dursley AC runners had the inner strength to enter Severn AC’s New Year’s Day five-mile race.

Conditions on this tough course were very challenging for Alice Lewis and Neil Parry, with wind and rain in abundance.

But Dursley’s runners started 2014 in impressive style, with both winning their age groups, and Lewis winning on gender lines too.

Results: Neil Parry 32:07, 1st mv45 (2nd overall); Alice Lewis 38:58, 1st woman (10th overall).

Three Dursley runners completed the seven-mile TriMaxEvents Seven Sins race recently.

This very tough hill run through the Forest of Dean features seven nasty hills, and includes two long icy water tunnels.

Mouse Clutterbuck was first club runner home, with Kate Browning arriving some five minutes later.

Alice Lewis, who clocked up several races over the festive period, followed Browning home in strong style.

The race is run on two days, with 192 completing the course.

Results: Mouse Clutterbuck 108.11 mins (49th); Kate Browning 113.53 mins (84th); Alice Lewis 115.54 mins (92nd).

The club runs from Dursley Rugby Club on Tuesday nights, with four groups to cater for all paces. Meet at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.

High-visibility vests and head torches are recommended.
