Stroud League Division Two

Dursley Town Res 4 Uley 1

THREE goals inside the opening 20 minutes set Dursley on their way to a derby victory over Uley and a first three-point haul since the opening day of the season.

Ricky Swift, Bruno Goncalves and Lee Crosbee effectively secured the win with early strikes, while player-boss Antony Nash added a fourth before Rich Kemp’s late reply.

The visitors were up against it from the moment Crosbee was fouled inside the penalty area and Swift gave the hosts a tenth-minute lead from the spot.

Dursley doubled their lead five minutes later when front man Goncalves cut in and drove a terrific shot beyond the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net.

The home side had even less time to wait for their third, Goncalves and Jordan Warner combining well before Crosbee slotted home for a three-goal cushion.

Uley steadied the ship thereafter, but they never really threatened a comeback as Nash knocked in a fourth 20 minutes from time before Kemp headed a consolation.

Dursley: P Dykes; D Clark (N Hart 70), R Crowcombe, M Workman; W Taylor (J Aldridge 75), R Swift, L Peters (I Lyon 60), Antony Nash, J Warner; B Goncalves, L Crosbee.

Goals: Swift pen (10), Goncalves (15), Crosbee (18), Nash (70).

Dursley Town 0 Taverners 2

DURSLEY warmed-up for Saturday’s home derby against Cam by getting in some much-needed match practice against Taverners on the artificial surface at Rednock.

In a game of few chances, Town trailed to a Mark Harsant penalty ten minutes before the break after Dan McNally had bundled into the back of the goalscorer.

The home side’s best chance came midway through the second half when Ben Jones headed down for Nathan Vines, but Duane Portlock was quickly out to save.

Five minutes from time, Taverners secured victory when the unfortunate Dan French headed a Harsant cross into his own net with his first touch in first-team football.

Dursley: K Watson; S Hobbs, C Wilkins, D McNally, J Stevenson; A Forgione, L Thomas, M Humphrey; N Vines, C Mills; D Lees. Rolling substitutes: K Ward, B Jones, J Dolbear, D French.

* Dursley’s scheduled Northern Senior One game at Lydbrook was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
