FORMER Castle School pupil Billy Vunipola will make his Six Nations debut on Saturday after being named in England’s side for their opening match against France in Paris.
The 21-year-old Saracens No 8 has been given the nod over Ben Morgan, who grew up in Kingswood.
Billy’s older brother, prop Mako, has been named among the replacements along with former Frampton Cotterell youth player Dave Attwood and Morgan.
After impressing off the bench during the summer tour of Argentina, Billy Vunipola ousted Morgan from the starting line-up for the autumn internationals and did enough to keep his place.
England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: “We felt the pack went well in the autumn and it’s right to leave it unchanged but we have some quality players, including two British and Irish Lions in Tom (Youngs) and Mako to come on.”
“We can’t wait for Saturday. We’ve had a good two weeks and all the players have pushed hard for selection.”
