FOREST Green striker Matty Taylor has made the switch to Skrill Premier League side Chester F.C. on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The self-proclaimed fox-in-the-box signed for Rovers from North Leigh in September 2011, will be available for Chester’s home fixture against Welling on Saturday.

Cash-strapped Chester remain part-time, so 22-year-old Taylor will remain with Forest Green in the week and train once a week at the Deva Stadium .

The former Oxford United star said: “I can't wait to start playing regularly again and scoring goals and help Chester get as many wins as possible.”

Rovers manager Ady Pennock said: “Competition for places is as tough as it’s ever been here, and a loan move will give Matty a great opportunity to get some games in for the remainder of the season.”

Taylor joined Forest Green for an undisclosed fee from Southern League South & West Division outfit North Leigh in September 2011.

Interest in Taylor was high, with Newport County, then in the Conference Premier, having an offer turned down while Taylor also held trials with Cheltenham Town after scoring over 80 goals in his two seasons at North Leigh.

Just two months into life at Rovers and he bagged his first hat-trick, at home to Alfreton Town before going on to score in victories over Luton Town and Wrexham to finish his first season at The New Lawn with 10 goals.

The following season he bagged 11 goals and was selected as a shadow member of the England C team in February.

This season in eight starts and five substitute appearances Taylor has bagged three goals.
