Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One

Dursley Town 1 Cam Bulldogs 2

ADAM Philp fired a late winner to earn victory for Cam in a dramatic derby against Dursley at the Rec to maintain the Bulldogs’ push for the Northern Senior One title.

Just five minutes remained when Philp converted from eight yards after Callum Dummelow’s shot had been blocked following good work by Sam Blackie.

The hosts made an incredible start, Curtis Mills beating Ben Jagger from the penalty spot after Chris Lindsay handled Antonio Forgione’s cross in the opening seconds.

Cam could have been level from the next attack, but Keith Watson saved when one-on-one with Aaron Booth after an untimely slip from Town full-back Steve Hobbs.

The Bulldogs began to dominate, but Aaron Nash sent a free header over and Sean Bailey bent a free-kick away from the goalkeeper but against the outside of the post.

The equaliser was fortuitous, though, Luke Morrissey’s cross causing chaos, but Nash’s shot was heading well wide until Jim Stevenson crashed it into his own net.

Jagger almost embarrassed Watson with a wind-assisted drop-kick before Mills hit the outside of the post under pressure from the goalkeeper at the other end.

Cam ought to have gone in front midway through the second half when Booth laid a fantastic chance on a plate for Philp, but Watson somehow deflected the ball wide.

The key moment arrived 15 minutes from time when Booth broke clear and was unceremoniously hacked down from behind by Dan McNally, who was sent off.

With five minutes remaining, Blackie outwitted the tiring Town defence to set up Dummelow for a blocked shot, but Philp was on hand to lash home the loose ball.

Dursley thought they should have had a second penalty when Lindsay appeared to go through the back of Mills from a Lee Thomas throw, but the official was unmoved.

The sides were evened-up in the final minute of stoppage-time when Morrissey saw red for an idiotic spat with the linesman, but the league leaders had done enough.
