THORNBURY’S first team game with Chard last Saturday was postponed due to waterlogged pitches at the rugby club and the sixth form college.

The game will now be replayed at home on Easter Saturday, April 19.

Thornbury second XV’s game at Dings Crusaders went ahead despite a pitch resembling a paddy field, with Thorns going down 26-6 to tough opposition.

The third XV and development XV games also fell foul of the weather.

Weather permitting, Thornbury firsts travel to south Devon on Saturday to take on the league’s bottom club Sidmouth, but will be wary of the wounded Devon side as they comprehensively beat them home and away last season.

The seconds host table-topping Cinderford in the GRFU Reserve Leagues whilst the thirds are also home to Chipping Sodbury seconds.

The games are likely to be played at the Sixth Form College on Gloucester Road and at The Chantry as the pitches at the rugby club are unlikely to be playable with the amount of rain forecast for the week.

The development team play Keynsham on Sunday (1pm), but again the venue is uncertain.

There will be pitch inspections and supporters are asked to keep an eye on the club website for an update of the status of all the games.
