Luke Oliver has already taken up the option of extending his stay at The New Lawn until the end of next season.

The 29-year-old signed a deal with Forest Green until the end of the season, with the option of further year, after leaving Bradford City by mutual consent at the end of January.

After less than three weeks training with the team under manager Ady Pennock and with just one match under his belt, the 6ft 7in centre-half had decided he'd seen and experienced enough.

"I've been really impressed with the club, the quality of the squad and the way the manager works with the players. It's a club going in the right direction," said Oliver.

After the frustration of numerous weather related postponements, Oliver finally made his debut away to Aldershot in Tuesday's 2-2 draw.

"It was brilliant to get 90 minutes under my belt, we could of comfortably won the game, but the pitch played factor."

Oliver is now looking ahead to his home debut against Southport at The New Lawn on Saturday.

"We haven't lost this calendar year, so we still have that momentum with us, let's just see what we can do."
