GFA Junior Cup Semi-Final

Hambrook 1 Real Thornbury 4

REAL Thornbury reached their fourth cup final in five years with a convincing win over Hambrook.

After the previous week's postponement of this fixture the semi-final finally went ahead at Whiteshill Common thanks to a relative break in the weather.

For 35 minutes the game was at stalemate until a long throw from Tom Miller into the Hambrook area was flicked onto Sam Taylor at the back post to nod the ball into the Hambrook net.

Just before half-time Real doubled their lead with a great goal from Dan Lever.

The second half started much the same as the first half with both teams playing good attacking football.

From a long cross field pass that caught Hambrook off guard as their offside trap failed, the flag was not raised and Mourad Senouci carried on to tap the ball in for number three.

From a corner, the ball some how passed through the crowd of players to Mike Barton turning 180 degrees, catching the ball on the

volley to hit home for number four.

Hambrook did not give up the fight and were rewarded with a consolation penalty to bring the final score1–4.

Thornbury will now meet Ashley in the final to be played at Oaklands Park, Almondsbury on Monday, April 14.

Real are also sitting in top position in the Bristol and District League Division Two, hoping for their fifth promotion in as many years.

Man of the match: Mourad Senouci (Real Thornbury).

Real Thornbury are desperately looking for a home venue in or near to their home town.
