Les Phillips Cup Second Round

Bradford Town 1 Slimbridge 0

SLIMBRIDGE went out of the Les Phillips Cup to Bradford Town, playing more than half of the game with ten men after Jamie Martin's first half dismissal.

Western League First Division leaders Bradford started well in heavy conditions and had the ball in the Swans' net after two minutes, but the goal was disallowed.

Slimbridge keeper Dave Evans had to be on top form to keep the home side out, but the Swans were up against it when Martin saw red for retaliation just before half-time.

The home side continued to have the best of the play, and their second half pressure eventually was rewarded when Craig Gingell headed home Dan King's cross with five minutes remaining leaving Slimbridge little time to respond.

Slimbridge: Evans, Hoyle, Robinson, Sterling, Thornton, Ward, Turner, Twyman, Chandler (Ford 80), Martin, Fahy, Stevenson.

Slimbridge's schedule Western League Premier Division game against tLarkhall Athletic tonight has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Swans visit Ilfracombe on Saturday (3pm) before another road trip on Tuesday, this time to Odd Down (7.45pm).
