BLUE Coat School pupil Joe McCoubrie won a gold medal at the Gloucestershire Primary Schools Cross Country Championships.
Nine districts from Gloucestershire attended the event at St Edward's Junior School in Cheltenham, all with their best runners, which were selected from each area's own races.
In the boys race, Wotton and Dursley team member McCoubrie led from start to become champion.
Not far behind him in third place, also of the Wotton and Dursley team, was Wycliffe School pupil Jack Lovell, who was awarded the bronze medal.
The team had its best overall position ever, coming third.
In the girls race, for the Wotton and Dursley team, Evie Green of Wycliffe School came third and was awarded a bronze medal, with Martha Heaps of North Road Primary School in Yate not far behind in the top ten.
The girls went one better than the boys, coming second and finishing just a few points behind Cheltenham.
