Rockleaze Rangers 2 Thornbury Town 1
FOR the second successive week Thornbury Town failed to take the opportunity to move away from the danger zone when they lost by the odd goal to fellow strugglers Rockleaze.
The opening goal came on 21 minutes from a 40-yard shot whipped in by Jabari Ngozi that deceived everyone, including visiting keeper Alex Lippiatt, who seemed to be wrong footed as the ball crossed the line.
That lead lasted just five minutes as Thornbury hit back from a Steve Thompson free kick that was headed home by Nathan Sage.
Rangers then missed a penalty in the 30th minute after Riki Lippiatt had pushed Ed Freeman following a corner.
Sam Andrews had his penalty saved by the legs of Alex Lippiatt.
In the 52nd minute Rangers were reduced to ten men when Ashley Hawkins received a red card after a scuffle.
Rangers grabbed the winner in the 70th minute with a superb piece of skill from Freeman, who volleyed home from 15 yards at a very tight angle, the ball smashing into the roof of the net.
Thorns entertain Henbury this Saturday in another vital clash at the Mundys, 3pm.
