Northern Senior League Division One

Sharpness 0 Cam 1

CAM continued their march towards the title with a derby victory, which increased Sharpness' relegation fears.

For the second week running Cam had to play a large part of the game with only 10 men.

Cam started very quickly and were one up after 10 minutes when Sean Bailey whipped in a trademark left footed free kick and Aaron Booth rose highest to head home via the inside of the post to give Ryan Neale in the Sharpness goal no chance.

For the rest of the half there were some tasty tackles flying around.

Sam Blackie went on a run from midfield, beating a couple of players with ease before firing, what seemed a certain goal, before Neale pulled off a stunning save.

One of the main talking points of the game happened in the first five minutes of the second half, when a strong tackle from Booth on Tommy Patterson was punished with a straight red card to everyone's amazement.

Cam re-shuffled and, like the previous week when they beat Lydbrook 2-1, played better with only ten men.

Sharpness showed more urgency but their inability to create goalscoring chances is a concern.

In the last 15 minutes Cam had chances to increase their lead on the break but on one of these attacks Adam Philp was clean through on goal when he attempted to lob the advancing Neale, who appeared to handle outside his box and was shown a straight red card to even the teams up.
