Northern Senior League Division Two

Wotton 6 Chalford 2

LEE Williams scored four times as Wotton thrashed Chalford.

Rovers started on the back foot and after 15 minutes the visitors a took well deserved lead with a shot dispatched expertly into the top corner.

Wotton regrouped and started 30 minutes of footballing brilliance, the majority of which coming from 16-year-old Cameron Pring, who dazzled for virtually the whole game.

It was a Pring delivery that was flicked on by Declan Frost and into the path of in-form striker Lee Williams to score his first of the day.

Rovers kept the pressure on and it was Williams again who scored after he rounded two defenders before looking up and lobbing the keeper to give the home team the lead.

Wotton continued to press and following some great link-up play from central midfield partners Asa Cox and Simon Graham the ball got moved out wide to Pring. His quick feet were too much for three of the Chalford back four as he ran almost the width of the pitch before releasing Williams, who looked up and floated the ball over all in his path and into the top corner for his hat-trick.

Wotton came out for the second half and instantly turned up the style dial as Pring and Nick Bird on the wings caused problems from the start.

Bird was involved in the next goal as he took a quick throw-in to Frost, and rolled the ball into the path of Williams, who drove the ball home for his 10th goal in six games and his fourth of the afternoon.

A determined Chalford never gave up and they were rewarded for their continued efforts when some neat play ended up with a second goal before a long range attempt rattled the bar.

Wotton put their foot back on the gas. Frost controlled a long ball from Pedley and took on the Chalford right back before firing past the onrushing keeper to make it five.

Wotton weren’t done there though and Cameron Pring gave a 150-strong Synwell crowd something to cheer about as he went on another weaving run, leaving a trail of destruction with players laying in his wake. He looked up and sat the ball up nicely for Bird to power the header home from the edge of the six-yard box.
