Bishop Sutton 2 Slimbridge 2

SLIMBRIDGE picked up another point from their fourth game in seven days at Lakeview on Saturday.

After a poor start, which saw them trailing to a Bishop Sutton penalty, goals from Adam Mace and Jamie Martin had put the visitors in the driving seat with 20 minutes remaining.

However, Bishop Sutton nicked an equaliser back, and the Swans were unable to take advantage of their superiority to pick up the vital winning goal.

As the game approached the half hour, a clumsy challenge from Callum Preece took down Nathan Legge in the Swans' penalty box, and Ryan Radford stepped up to convert and put the home side ahead from the spot.

Six minutes later, though, the Swans were level. Harley Price played a nice ball into Mace's feet, and he twisted and turned past two Sutton defenders before netting.

The visitors made far the better start to the second period and took the lead on 67 minutes.

Dave Evans' long clearance eluded Dan Rosser as it bounced towards the Sutton box, and Martin, on for Chandler, twisted superbly to loft the ball over the oncoming Coombes and into the net.

The lead only lasted two minutes though as the Swans switched off – a through ball was allowed to reach Radford, who rounded Evans and put the home side back on level terms.

The Swans entertain Brislington at Wisloe Road on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Winterbourne United come to Wisloe on Good Friday (1pm) and on Easter Monday, the Swans travel to Larkhall Athletic (2pm).

Star man: Jack Twyman.

Slimbridge 3 Longwell Green Sports 1

SLIMBRIDGE'S Western Premier League status was mathematically secured after they produced another impressive performance to see off Longwell Green Sports last Thursday.

The home side fell behind to an early penalty conceded after Callum Preece was deemed to have committed a foul, but bounced back quickly with two goals from Jack Twyman and Adam Mace.

Danny Chandler wrapped up the points in the second minute of stoppage time at the end of the game.

The first good opportunity of the game went to the visitors. Callum Brown's clearance was picked up by Kris Lee for Longwell Green, and Dave Evans slipped as he went to collect his shot. The ball nicked the outside of the post and went wide.

On six minutes, Longwell Green did gain the advantage when Callum Preece was penalised for a foul in the box by referee Richard Morris, and Simon Dew stepped up to convert the penalty.

The Swans, playing at a high tempo and moving the ball around well, stormed back into the game. Jack Twyman slid home the equaliser on ten minutes, and then five minutes later, the ball came to Adam Mace on the edge of the Longwell Green box and his powerful strike gave Keeper Dan Jackson no chance to put the home side ahead.

On 67 minutes, Slimbridge missed a glorious chance to increase the lead. Jack Twyman chased down a clearance and played in Sean Lawson, who rounded Jackson, and then played the ball back across goal but Twyman agonisingly failed to connect with an open goal in front of him.

In the second minute of stoppage time, the Swans picked up their third goal. Lawson charged down an attempted clearance from Jackson, and then unselfishly laid the ball into the path of Chandler, who walked the ball into the net to nail down a very impressive win for the home side.

Slimbridge: Evans, Preece (Ward 72), Brown, Tunnicliff, Hoyle, Turner, Knott (Fahy 35), Twyman, Lawson, Martin (Chandler 56), Mace.

Star man: Sean Lawson.
