Hellenic League Division One West

Lydney Town 2 Tytherington Rocks 0

TYTHERINGTON Rocks lost their first league game for seven months and only their second of the season at runners-up Lydney.

On the day Lydney were the better team and deserved their win, however, Rocks were short of four first team players in their final game of a successful campaign due to injuries to Stuart Nelson, Toby Colbourne and Nick Peare with Adamo Missiato not available, and within five minutes of the start, full back Dale Emery was carried off with a broken tibia after a bad tackle.

Manager Gary Powell had to ring the changes from his normal team with Luke Lecrass and Rob Cave taking over the full back roles.

Play was fairly even for the first half-hour but Lydney took the lead on 38 minutes when Jarred Liddington's shot from close in gave Rocks keeper Kevin Freeman no chance.

The second half started well for the champions with the home team defending for the first 20 minutes.

Whilst Rocks did most of the attacking they lacked real penetration in the box and did not test the home keeper until a great low shot by Sam Taylor was pushed around the post.

Lydney went further in front from a corner in the 75th minute when Niall Halford out-jumped the Rocks defence to head the ball against the post and come out, only for the linesman to flag that it had crossed the line for a goal.
