FOREST Green could re-sign their former captain Luke Graham in a summer deal from Hereford United.

Free agent Graham, who celebrated his 28th birthday today, was a firm fans’ favourite at the New Lawn, but fell out of favour with former boss David Hockaday and moved to Rovers’ Skrill Premier rivals Hereford two years ago.

He has become a firm favourite at the Bulls, but would fill the central defender void left by Jamie Turley, who is set to move to Swindon Town.

The SNJ understands Graham has been offered deals at two other clubs, but Rovers could make a move this week as Ady Pennock begins his rebuilding job at the New Lawn.

Graham helped Hereford secure their Conference Premier status with a dramatic late win over Aldershot on Saturday.

Hereford, who were set for their second relegation in three seasons with just two minutes remaining, survived on goal difference as Michael Rankine’s 88th minute winner.

Aldershot also survive on goal difference, finishing the season just one place above the Bulls but level on points.

Graham told the Hereford Times: "We have had so many knock backs this year - I have never known a season like it.

"Our fighting spirit came through and we deserved it.

"I have never cried in my lifetime but I could not help it and I burst into tears.

"Trying to keep everyone together this season has been the toughest thing I have ever done.

"We have defied the odds. The fans have been brilliant all along and we have done it together as a team.

"I think this is the best achievement of my career."
