Football: Berkeley finish bottom despite Strickland-inspired win

Gloucestershire County League

Ellwood 1 Berkeley Town 3

BERKELEY Town signed their season off with a win at Ellwood.

This victory was not enough to lift them off the bottom as, although they have the same number of points as Yate Town Reserves, they have an inferior goal difference.

The home side went ahead on 15 minutes from a Mike Nelson strike.

The visitors hit back after the break with a Sam Strickland hat-trick.

His first on 50 minutes came from the penalty spot.

He netted a second ten minutes later and then rounded it off with a third in the 85th minute.
