Northern Senior League Division One
Sharpness 0 Cheltenham Civil Service 3
AFTER securing their Division One status two days earlier, Sharpness found Cheltenham Civil Service too strong as their six-game unbeaten run came to an end.
There was a one minute’s silence before the game in memory of former Sharpness players Rex Nash and John Pullin, who died recently.
The home side did most of the attacking early on before the visitors took over the game.
Civil Service missed a penalty when Ashley Collard made an excellent save but they went ahead soon after.
The visitors maintained their lead up to half-time and missed chances to increase it immediately after the break before eventually scoring their second.
The Sharks never gave up but the visitors always held the upper hand and scored a third goal to put the result beyond doubt.
Sharpness ensured they could not mathematically go down when Marley Thomas scored the only goal of the game at Lydbrook on Thursday night.
