Stroud & South Gloucestershire U15s (119) beat Gloucester & Forest of Dean U15s (98) by 21 runs

STROUD and South Gloucestershire (SSG) secured a win over Gloucester and the Forest of Dean.

A partnership of 68 between Oscar Adams (Cam) and Will Cullimore (Rockhampton) had put SSG in a strong position.

But with the score on 69-1, top scorer Cullimore was caught behind off Corse and Staunton leg spinner Matt Cox for 31 before the same bowler did for Luke Messer (Thornbury) first ball.

Adams (27) and Oliver Morris (19) (Frampton Cotterell) repaired the damage, taking the score to 95 before both were clean bowled in quick succession by Gloucester City Winget’s Louis Hamilton, who finished with 3-15.

SSG then lost their last six wickets for 16 runs as Ben Howells (Newnham on Severn) ripped through the lower order, taking 5-23.

GFOD looked on course for victory at 59-2 but they lost their last eight wickets for 39 runs.

Cheltenham and Cotswolds U11s (88-6) beat Stroud & South Glos U11s (87-9) by four wickets

CHELTENHAM and Cotswolds eventually eased to a four wicket victory despite a determined fight-back from Stroud and South Glos.

Chasing 88 to win a composed 19 not out from Hamish Brock and 14 not out from Willoughby Norrie (both Cirencester) saw their team home with nine overs to spare.

Earlier Stroud and South Glos had been reduced to 36-5 with Brock (2-13) and Oliver Wood (2-8) the pick of the bowlers.

But a determined lower order batting performance from Stroud and South Glos saw them bat out their 30 overs.

This was due in no small part to an impressive display from Ryan Collins (20), which gave his side something to defend.
