Staple Hill (210-3) beat Kingswood (209-5) by seven wickets
KINGSWOOD'S first visit to Staple Hill's new ground ended in defeat.
The early loss of Kingswood's Ken Wood was bravely borne by Kevin Morgan (65) and Richard Wilding (51), and followed up by Tom Devine (29), Vince Taylor (13) and father Steve (14*) and son Mike (7*) Barnes in a useful, but not commanding 209-5.
Staple Hill made light of the challenge, racing to 100 in 11 overs.
Though there was a wicket each for Steve Moran, Rory Thomas and 14-year-old Jacob Symanowski –his first in adult cricket – and one batting retirement, Kingswood could do little to stop the hosts romping home with 12 overs to spare.
