GLOUCESTERSHIRE wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering another injury setback.

Making his first County Championship appearance of the season, he broke the same finger that kept him out at the start of the season on the final day against Kent after scoring two half-centuries in the match to help the county secure their first win of the season in all competitions.

Gloucestershire captain Michael Klinger said: “It’s a freak thing because all the information we had was that the original injury had healed completely.

“Gareth had played for the second XI before he returned to the first team and then got through a T20 game as well as most of this one.”

Meanwhile, seam bowlers Ian Saxelby (knee) and Craig Miles are expected to remain sidelined for the next two weeks, while David Payne is also not ready to return to action after suffering a setback in his recovery from a bruised heel.
