THORNBURY’S club dinner saw the awarding of shields and tankards to those who had achieved great things for the club during the season.

Former Wales and Lions centre Steve Fenwick, who was the guest speaker, presented the awards with the recipients drinking a wee dram from the Quaich the club had been presented with by the Scottish Rugby Union at the Jubilee dinner.

In addition to the normal awards, Jon Day was presented with a framed collage of photographs which illustrated his playing career of over 25 seasons.

Wayne Underwood delivered an entertaining speech as the current captain then after Euan Forsythe had proposed a toast to the speakers Steve Fenwick spoke of his career and the characters he had met playing in internationals and on tours.

Junior Clubman: James Wood.

Player’s Player: Ed Sheldon.

Most Improved Player: Joe Jackson.

Trainer of the Year: George Sheldon.

Second XV Player of the Year: Ben Read.

Third XV Player of the Year: Nick Tyrell.

Top Try Scorer: Ed Sheldon.

Best Team: The First XV.

Club Colours were awarded to Nick Balman.
