Gloucestershire County Cricket League Division Two

Cam (200-7) beat Slaughters (93) by 107 runs

CAM returned to winning ways in convincing fashion against Slaughters.

After being asked to bat in a damp track, opening batsmen Adam Holloway and Stuart Newman made easy work of the opening attack.

Holloway looked back to his best and despite the soaking outfield was able to find boundaries off Mark Saunders.

Newman (23), looking at just as much ease, managed to clear the long-on boundary on a couple of occasions off the bowling of Dan Binding but was first to fall for 23 inside the opening ten overs.

Gareth Udal came in and ably supported Holloway until the latter fell for 37 after being caught at point to a stuck-out right hand.

Pete Hall added a quick 28 before being run out with eight overs to go and Cam on 137-3.

Quick cameos from Ben Williams, Mike Glover and Tom Deakin assisted Udal as he passed 50 with a little over five overs remaining before finally being bowled for 61.

This left George Dolling and Ben Holloway to see out the remaining two overs and secure maximum batting points with one ball left in the innings.

After setting Slaughters 201 to win, the opening bowling attack of Edward Rendall and Dolling had little joy.

A change in the attack saw Udal bowl but his first three overs went for 20 runs.

Dolling at the other end bowled tight lines and gave very little away, going for nine runs from his six overs.

A tactical change from Udal saw him bowling spin, which immediately caused confusion for Saunders.

A catch from Newman at slip removed Saunders for 21.

This led to two overs that completely changed the game.

The following Hall over saw new batsman Angus Hayward call a risky single and Ben Holloway ran out Wayne Rose for 34.

The next over saw Stephen Stroud and Nathan Wilson fall in consecutive balls to Udal, the first being a superb one handed diving catch from Holloway.

Hall then claimed his two wickets as Dolling took two identical catches just in from the long-on boundary.

John Jones put up resistance against the bowling attack, which began to frustrate the bowlers, Holloway eventually removing him for 11.

Rendall re-joined the attack and took the wicket of Rose with a catch from Adam Holloway.

The final two wickets fell soon after as Holloway had Binding caught at slip after Newman reacted well to a deflected effort from Dolbear and then trapped Paul Heming leg before, giving Cam 22 points.
