YATE United under-16s Girls received the Bob Lethaby award at the Gloucestershire FA’s community awards evening.
They received the accolade, given to clubs who have persevered through adversity, during the GFA’s annual McDonald’s-backed presentations held at Cheltenham Town’s Whaddon Road stadium.
Team secretary Pete Marshall said: “Our team has come through a season of constant change, with players coming in, players leaving and lots of demands on time from other sources.
“To their credit the girls have kept going throughout and even when down to nine or ten players they have still played with the same enthusiasm and commitment, whatever the result.
“The team have now agreed to continue into the Under-18 Gloucester County Girls League next season, which shows their character, persistence and determination.
“We’re always looking for new players, though, and we would welcome any girl keen to get involved from school Years 11, 12 and 13 next season.”
