WEPL Glos/Wilts Division

Chipping Sodbury (67) lost to Rockhampton (68-1) by nine wickets

CHIPPING Sodbury were humbled by Rockhampton in a one-sided derby.

After losing the toss on a baking hot day at Chipping Sodbury and on what looked to be an excellent wicket, the visitors naturally feared a long afternoon in the field.

However, that couldn't have been further from the truth as the league leaders put in their most ruthless performance of the season to date in dismissing the hosts for just 67.

Opening bowlers Will Cartlidge(3-19) and Chris Perry (4-8) did most of the damage, reducing Sodbury to 26-5, assisted by some excellent catching and some equally as good and tight change bowling from Guy Brothwood (0-6), Sam Nichols (2-12) and Dave McCabe (1-15) before Cartlidge and Perry returned to wrap up the tail end with the innings coming to end in just the 33rd over.

An early tea was taken and despite the loss of Rowan Cartlidge for four, Will Tyler (25*) and Brothwood (24*) knocked the runs off with relative ease, both clearing the clubhouse in the process and ensuring that the match was over just before 4pm.

Rockhampton left with 21 points to extend their lead at the top of Glos/Wilts to four points.

The table toppers host Swindon this Saturday, 1pm.
