FOUR Thornbury Running Club members represented Great Britain at Kitzbühel ETU Triathlon European Championships.

Jane Leslie smashed the F65-69 opposition, winning her category in 3:13:17, over half an hour faster than her nearest rival.

In a good international field of competitors, Sue Bamford was 24th in the F45-49 category in 02:55:36 with a good performance in all three disciplines, while in the M50-54 category Richard Phillips was 53rd, his run again supported by good cycle and swim times, giving him a total of 2:39:00.

Jon Greenwood also had a good all-round event to come 13th in the M60-64 group (2:50:04).

As part of the Pucklechurch Revel, Emerson Green Running Club presented the Puckle Ruck, a six-mile race on roads and cycle tracks.

The winner, Aaron Dishman, completed in 38:33:04.

Thornbury's Garry Slater finished in third place and was first veteran in 41.27.58, with Fiona Moore third lady in 49:00:56.

At Man versus Horse, 56 horses and over 700 runners covered a challenging course in mid-Wales.

Over 23 miles it would seem a foregone conclusion, but it's not always so.

It was another victory for four legs in 2:22:53, with the first two-legged competitor fifth in 2:43:05.

Thornbury 's Rob Hopkins was 126th in 3:56:55, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

There were few Thornbury parkrunners out on Saturday; at Little Stoke Daniel Harding bettered his fastest time by 21 seconds to finish 19th with a new personal best (PB) of 19:40, while Kevin Arnold completed the 5k in 42nd place, 21:51.

Jack Grudgings ran at Chipping Sodbury, ninth in 20:22

A number of Thornbury members were involved in the Oldbury fun run.

Besides those roped-in by Arthur Renshaw for marshalling duties, a number took the opportunity to run.

For the serious runners there is the red start, ten minutes ahead of the blue start fun-runners, many of whom catch and overtake the slower red runners.

In glorious sunshine Kevin Wood was the first Thornbury club finisher of the four-mile race, 38th in 26:12.3, with Liam Jones 45th (26:36.9).

Dorothy Thomas was 42nd female with no recognition that she is actually over 70, and had a good time of 40:47.3.

For others it was a family day out. Selina Slater (32:02.1) had her sights on son Oliver Davies (31:11.1), while husband Garry with daughter Faith in the buggy (49:08.6) kept pace with elder daughter Eve, six, who sprinted ahead in the finish straight to cross the line in 49:00:1.

Other Thornbury members running for fun or with family included Alistair Whiteway, Janet Gaze and Martyn Green.

The Sundayshill 10k will be held at 7.30pm next Monday. The race is open to all and full details of the route and how to enter may be found, with information about all club meetings and events, at thornburyrunningclub.co.uk
