ANDREW Nicholson and Avebury made history at the St James’s Place Wealth Management Barbury International Horse Trials with a hat-trick of wins in the £5,000 CIC*** Section A.
They won this showpiece class for the third successive time in the best possible fashion with a copybook clear round.
Their excellent dressage test and clear showjumping gave them sufficient advantage that they could take the long route at the main water complex.
Zara Phillips suffered disappointment as she finished 78th with Black Tuxedo, while Mr Murt retired in the CIC** Section B.
Daisy Berkeley finished third on Kiltubrid Rhapsody in the Open Novice section.
She was also 16th with Montserrat and 18th with Koyuna Sun Storm in Section C and B respectively of the CIC** class.
Chipping Sodbury's Nick Gauntlett also took three horses, finishing 12th in the Novice Section J on Kilkern Lux.
He was 33rd in CIC** Section D with Carden Earl Grey but retired Cairnside Sir Alex in Section C.
