THE Slimbridge Front Pin Summer Skittle League entered the second half of the season with the week eight fixtures being the reverse of the opening games.
League Leaders the Geriarices faced Slimbridge RBL and controlled the first half, easing to a 42-pin advantage thanks to a 15-spare from Howard Stockman.
The second half was a tense affair as Nigel Winfield hit a 13-spare in his total of 57 in the seventh leg to overturn a six-pin deficit for the eventual winners.
Despite Sue Coole scoring 60 for Slimbridge RBL, the Geriatrics did just enough to hold on as they took the half by three pins.
Shake Hands faced the Bowmen in what turned out to be a close affair.
Robert Sims hit 57 and Martin Livall hit an 11-spare as the former took a 23-pin first half advantage; David Harrison recording a 12-spare for the Bowmen.
The second half was a tense affair as Alan Dimery hit 44 for the Bowmen to secure a two-pin victory.
Snorts FC climbed back into second spot after they recorded a 90-pin victory over The Dons.
Despite losing the first leg the eventual winners took a 60-pin first half advantage thanks to a score of 62 from Gareth Markey. Jim Merrett top scored for The Dons with 38 The second half followed a similar pattern as The Dons took a first leg advantage but were unable to hold on. Snorts FC extended their winning margin by a further 30 pins; John Handley ensuring Snorts took maximum points with a 12-spare in the second leg and final leg 13-spare.
