KATHARINE Lady Berkeley's School won the second highest amount of medals in the county at the Gloucestershire School Games.

They were awarded 21 medals in total and were placed 16th in the table with four golds, eight silver and nine bronze medals.

KLB's under-15 table tennis teams qualified for the county competition at Hartpury College.

Keeva Holder and Naomi Culpepper faced strong competition in the girls section but did exceptionally well to win gold medals.

The boys team of Sebastian Culpepper, Michael Barnes, Jesse Winter and Richard Ainsley came third.

For the first time the school qualified for the county indoor rowing competition.

The Year 10 boys’ team of Rhys Belcher, Joe Freer, Kieran Sparsey and Henry Momber came away with a bronze medal in the team event.

This was a great achievement as an injury toBelcher in the individual round meant the team only comprised of three members compared to four in the other teams.

In the individual competition Freer excelled and came away with a bronze medal, just a metre behind the overall winner.

Although the Year 10 girls’ team comprised of Abi Cooper, Sophie Wilson, Megan Short and Sian Burdis did not medal they all had excellent individual performances.

In the mountain biking competition, KLB's Year 8 team, comprising of Harry Wadey, Zac Freer and Oscar Harrison, gained a silver medal.

In the individual time trial Wadey came third.

The Year 9 team made up of Isaac Blanc, Ferdinard De Carvalho and Rob Dakin came a creditable fourth.

KLB's Year 10 team of Ben Eames, Ashley Lingham and Patrick Carr finished in bronze position and Lingham improved on this in the individual time trial, gaining a silver medal.

Following on from their success in the equestrian competition last year KLB entered various classes for dressage and show jumping.

Charlotte Wilson was awarded a clear round rosette and performed well in the 60cm and 70cm show jumping rounds.

She was followed by Maddie Pain and Tilly Dowsing jumping 80cm.

Maddie Pain did well to be placed fifth.

KLB entered a team in the 90cm jumping event. Maddie Pain, Tilly Dowsing, Iona Griffiths and Corrie Grafton were placed a creditable fifth.

Louisa Carpenter, a promising Year 7 student, did exceptionally well in this class and was placed fifth in the individual competition.

In dressage KLB led the field. Tilly Dowsing, on Harwood Fortitude, put in a great performance and gained a gold medal in the Intro class.

She was closely followed by Carpenter, who gained a silver medal, while Charlotte Wilson was just out of the placing.

Dowsing went on to do very well in the Prelim Class, just missing out on a place.

Maddie Prendergast had a fantastic performance to win gold in the open dressage competition, meaning the team finished second overall for another medal.

Toby Wells and Chris Barton qualified for the County Watersports School Games at South Cerney.

Year 7 pupil Wells qualified for the individual sailing competition and came a creditable third and fourth in his two races, but did not medal.

Barton, a Year 10 pupil, competed in the windsurfing competition and he came fourth overall.
