THORNBURY captain Richard Trotman led from the front with a century in their 32-run win at Goatacre in Premier Two of the West of England Premier League.

In a high-scoring game, Thornbury batted first and accrued 365-6, with Trotman hitting 118, Marc Lezar 52, Nick Willis-Stovold finding some form for his 56 and Luke Davis not out on 53.

In the first over of the Goatacre innings Luke Davis (2-64) went for 23 runs, and fellow opener Tom Bradley (3-57) had 20 past him but they recovered and the hosts finished up with 333 all out.

The seconds played Goatacre in the reverse fixture and claimed a much-needed 121-run win to stay in contention for promotion from Premier Two 2nd XI.

Marcus Wormwell and Kyp Bridgen got Thornbury off to a flying start, scoring 70 runs in the first ten overs.

Wormwell was caught on 46 after finding form again, while Bridgen also let his wicket go and managed 33 runs.

With Harry Wormwell (7) not hanging around in the middle for long, Mark Allen made his first second team appearance in this Millennium and ended up with a massive72.

Alex Broomsgrove started hitting to all parts of the ground and ended up with 92.

The fireworks started when Sam Summerfield came into bat and he took the innings total out of reach for Goatacre.

Summerfield batted for 35 minutes, faced only 31 balls and hit 80 not out, with only boundaries coming of his innings.

With veteran David Hammond playing a supporting role and also hitting a season best of 23 not out, Thornbury ended up with a massive 385-5.

Goatacre's opening batsmen started strong.

Captain Greg Mallitte brought himself on to bowl with Wormwell (3-55) at the other end and this did the trick as wickets started to fall.

Allen and he took three great catches, while Alex Broomsgrove claiming the catch of the season with a diving left-handed effort as Goatacre achieved 264-9.

The thirds played at Tockington Manor against Old Cathedralians, who are lying bottom of the Bristol and District League Seventh Division.

As rain was threatened by tea, Richard Hawkins won the toss and put the visitors into bat to make sure they got maximum points.

Old Cathedralians didn’t put up much of a fight and were all out for 55.

It didn’t take long for the Thornbury batsmen to knock off these few runs and they won by six wickets to pull away at the top of the league.

Former Gloucestershire star and Australia World Cup winner Ian Harvey helped Bedminster beat Thornbury by 51 runs in the BDCA 20 Over Knockout Cup.

Harvey hit 34 and Tom Pugsley made with 51 in the visitors' total of 159-6, Roshan Borkar taking 3-42 for Thornbury.

Borkar then top-scored with 34 in Thornbury's reply of 108 all out with Muhammad Khan doing most of the damage by claiming 5-17, while Harvey took 1-25 off his four overs.
