Slimbridge 3 Gala Wilton 1

IN THEIR first pre-season game, Slimbridge produced an impressive performance, especially in the first half, to take the spoils from an entertaining encounter against Gala Wilton at Wisloe Road, which saw both sides putting on a good show for the crowd.

The home side took the lead halfway through the first period when Jamie Martin was felled in the Gala box, and he picked himself up to drill the penalty past keeper Tom Kaye.

The second goal came when Sean Lawson rounded Kaye and walked the ball into an empty net as the Swans dominated.

Slimbridge should have added to the scoresheet when Paul Fahy's speedy run resulted in him being fouled as he entered the Gala box, but this time Kaye guessed correctly, and made a good save to Martin's second penalty of the afternoon.

Gala pulled a goal back before the break through Ben Jones.

The second half was a more patchy affair, as both sides made numerous rolling substitutions, but Slimbridge did notch a third goal when Fahy's run down the right flank saw him cross for Adam Mace to convert from a yard out.

The Swans entertain Brimscombe and Thrupp on Saturday (3pm) before Forest Green Rovers make their annual trip to Wisloe Road on Tuesday, July, 22 (7.30pm).
