Frampton-on-Sever (166-8) lost to Charlton Kings (167-9) by one wicket

FRAMPTON suffered an agonising last -ball defeat against Charlton Kings.

After winning the toss, Frampton chose to bat.

Lee Driver-Dickerson and Tom Warren found the ball moving and swinging around from the opening bowlers.

Driver-Dickerson fell for just 13 and Warren was caught by Chris Hunte, swiftly followed by Jason Huxstep and his brother Dan, leaving Frampton on a lowly 45-4 after 19 overs.

Dan Halsey and Matt Cayless put on 55 with Halsey taking the lead, amassing an excellent top score of 44 before Cayless was caught for 13 in the 36th over. Sam Bateman and Craig Barnfield rallied towards the end of the 45 overs.

Benny Ellis and Chris Burrows started the Charlton Kings innings on a positive note but Burrows fell to a super catch by Dustin Burt in the fourth over.

Both Graeme Werry and Charlie Hunte were caught in the slips off Huxstep and Barnfield but the key wicket went to debutant Burt, who had Ellis caught by Halsey at the third attempt.

Tom Haywood (31) and Sam Rideout (26) scored well but both made the long walk back to pavilion.

With the game in the balance Charlton Kings drew the game with the penultimate ball and won the game with a boundary.
