FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock has pledged to send a strong side to Slimbridge on Tuesday night (7.30pm).

After discovering that the Conference Premier side had arranged a second pre-season friendly for the same evening at Gloucester City, Slimbridge secretary Colin Gay contacted Forest Green disclosing his concerns of the impact that this last minute arrangement may have on the game at Wisloe Road.

He immediately received a telephone call from Pennock, who insisted that he would be bringing a very strong side to face Western League Premier Division side Slimbridge, which will include goalkeeper Sam Russell, Lee Hughes and James Norwood.

The Rovers squad will also include David Pipe, James Jennings, Luke Oliver, Dale Bennett, Rob Sinclair and several other first team players, while Pennock will also be at Wisloe Road.

A Slimbridge statement said: “Slimbridge FC would like to thank Forest Green Rovers for their rapid response to our concerns and especially to Ady Pennock for understanding our concerns and for promising to bring a strong side to us on Tuesday.”
