STRIKER Andy Mangan has left Forest Green by mutual consent after a settlement was reached between the club and player.

Stuart Brennan, head of media communications at Forest Green, said: "FGR would like to thank Mangan's new club Shrewsbury Town for their contribution to the deal.

"While the club wishes the 27-year-old well in his future endeavours, it maintains that there was a serious incident for which his contract was originally terminated in February.

"Despite this action being overturned on appeal by the Football Conference in June, Forest Green are continuing with an appeal to the Football Association."

Mangan has not featured in either of Rovers' pre-season friendlies and remained with the Academy when the rest of the squad travelled to Scotland for a five-day boot camp.

He was suspended for the bulk of last season due to a breach of club discipline, which occurred before Ady Pennock's arrival as manager.

Rovers terminated  his contract in February, only for him to successfully appeal against that decision and return early for pre-season training this summer.

Mangan  hit 30 goals for Jim Harvey’s Forest Green side in 2008/09 followin a free transfer from Bury.

However, he was hit with a five-month ban from football in the summer of 2009 for breaching betting rules while at previous club Bury and failed to play for then boss David Hockaday.

He quit Rovers and joined Wrexham in January 2010 and scored 23 goals for the Dragons before moving to Fleetwood Town under current Shrewsbury boss Mellon.

The Liverpool-based striker helped the Cod Army to win promotion to the Football league.

He  re-joined Rovers on a three-year deal, but he made only three starts and six substitute appearances in the Skrill Premier last term.
