IN WEEK ten of the Slimbridge Summer Skittles League the Bowmen moved up to third spot after a 65-pin victory over the Breezers.

The winners controlled the game from start to finish, at no point trailing as they opened up a 43-pin first half advantage.

Despite the Breezers hitting the only spare of the game as Allison Smith recorded a score of 11 in her total of 52, the Bowmen, with steady and consistent scoring, were able to increase their margin of victory by 22 pins in the second half; Stuart Murdoch top-scoring for the winners with 44.

The Geriatrics retained top spot with a 42-pin victory over The Dons.

The former held a slender advantage after three legs of the first half and kept in touch with the league leader as they entered the final leg, trailing by just six pins. A 14-spare from Mark Harris however helped the Geriatrics to a nine-pin first half advantage despite Darren Noble scoring 54 for the latter.

The second half also saw The Dons take an early lead, however a 13-spare from Anthony Jellings, and a score of 59 from Nigel Winfield help the Geriatrics take control of the second half and extend their margin of victory by 33 pins.

Snorts FC remain in second spot but dropped points in their 22-pin victory over Slimbridge RBL as they looked to close the gap on the leaders.

A third leg 14-spare from Mark Smith helped Snorts FC wrestle the lead after a close opening two legs. Steve Brown hit a fourth leg 14-spare in his total of 62 as the eventual winners won the half by 35 pins.

The second half saw Slimbridge RBL open up an early advantage which they never lost. Sid Lord hit a 14-spare, as did Sue Coole.

A 13-spare from Richard Fry helped Snorts FC back into the game and reduced the deficit to 12 pins entering the final leg. However, Craig Barnfield scored 58 for Slimbridge RBL as they took the second half by 13 pins to reduce the winning margin for Snorts FC.
