PEOPLE inspired by golfing superstars such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy playing The Open Championship are being given the chance to have a go at the sport for free at Thornbury Golf Centre.

The public pay-and-play centre operates a free coaching initiative, Learn Golf, aimed at people with no golf experience or equipment, offering a light-hearted and fun one-hour lesson with a PGA professional.

Budding new golfers will receive an introduction to the basics of the game, utilising the extensive practice facilities at Thornbury Golf Centre, which is part of BGL Golf.

Richard Dakin, Thornbury Golf Centre General Manager, said: “The beauty of golf is that it can be enjoyed by people of any age, and as a low-impact sport, it can be a game for life. We regularly welcome juniors from as young as two or three-years-old and seniors in their nineties, plus everyone in between.

“The free Learn Golf lesson offers an ideal opportunity for people to give golf a try and find out how fun it can be. It has already proved successful at attracting new people to the sport who can enjoy golf for the competition, the social nature of the game and the health benefits associated with regular exercise.”
