Gloucestershire CB Women's T20 League
Corse & Staunton (94-3) lost to Cam (100-2) by six runs
UNBEATEN leaders Cam resumed their league fixtures with an away game at Corse and Staunton.
Cam captain Charlie Pretty won the toss and decided to bat.
Pretty and Lucy Johnstone opened the batting, both making a steady start.
The skipper went lbw for 32 before Vicky Mansell and Johnstone pushed the run rate along.
Mansell, after some good shots, was eventually bowled by Debbie Cox for 24, which included four fours.
Jazz Gillingham then joined Johnstone (31*) with the score on 96 and the pair of them took the total to 100.
Cam made a terrific start in the field, Vicky Mansell (1-16) bowling opener Aileen Penman with nought on the board.
Corse’s next two batsmen were hard to break down and they put on 58 before Dark was caught behind by Sarah Wingett off Pretty.
Corse were gradually getting near the total but Johnstone had Cox lbw.
This brought experienced Helen Wyatt to the crease but Pretty (1-8) kept bowling tight.
With Johnstone (1-18) bowling the last over, Corse needed ten runs to win but just couldn’t get through and only scored three off it.
